Description:
An iconic Australian native plant with a distinctive trunk and dense crown of long, narrow, grass-like leaves. Commonly known as the Southern Grass Tree, Xanthorrhoea australis is a slow-growing and exceptionally hardy species that can live for many decades. Mature plants produce spectacular tall flower spikes, often reaching several metres in height, with creamy-white flowers that provide an important source of nectar for bees, birds, and other native wildlife. Well suited to native, coastal, and low-maintenance landscapes, it makes a striking feature plant and performs particularly well in poor, sandy soils.
